FASHA (a Kinyarwanda word calling for assistance) stands for Fervent Assistance to Survivors for Healthy Adjustments. how we make a difference
urban farm
|
This initiative is a part of the solution to integrate the growing refugee and immigrant population in Middle Tennessee. The project has an outdoor recreational area for all of those interested in spending time outdoors, interacting with nature, and growing their own food. The farming project incorporates food education, community education, as well as well as business and entrepreneurial facets. Utilizing 5 acres of land in Paragon Mills, this initiative brings together Davidson County’s local, immigrant and refugee communities. This initiative tackles issues of food security, cultural awareness, health, wellness, healthy eating, and health promotion. |
disaster relief
|
FASHA continues to accept donations towards disaster relief from across the world. The founders of FASHA were survivors and witnesses of some the world's modern and deadly crises. Our notable efforts towards disaster relief include raised funds for the Haiti Earthquake of 2010 and the most recent drought and famine in the Horn of Africa in the country of Somalia, as well as the rescue of a family from the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, during the M23 destruction in 2012. Funds raised have gone towards feeding families for multiple weeks, and provided livelihoods where there were none. We have conducted Zumbathons, Soccer tournaments, and various other means of fundraisers. We have accepted donations from generous individuals and businesses, and continue to push our efforts towards disaster relief.
